Vice President, Global Talent Development

The Vice President, Global Talent Development will make a significant contribution to drive effective leadership and talent development programs across the enterprise. In this position you will provide strategic oversight for the design and implementation of effective talent development programs and solutions. This position will ensure programs are designed to address enterprise needs, elevate skills, drive growth, and reinforce employee engagement and performance. In this position, you will lead the design and implementation of new initiatives and enhance the overall learner experience by driving the evolution and adoption of modern learning techniques and other best practice training capabilities (i.e., through use of various tools and systems). Ultimately you will be responsible for driving the Talent Development Strategy for the Enterprise, ensuring effective execution and ongoing competitiveness of learning and talent development programs. Additionally, you will partner with HR leaders and other Executive Leaders to evolve the strategic development agenda. This is a highly visible role that requires an executive presence, challenges the status quo, and keeps abreast of industry trends that includes thinking creatively about the manner in which programs are delivered.   • Oversee Global Talent Development by providing thought leadership on the design and execution of all leadership development experiences throughout the enterprise at all levels. Ensure effective and high-quality design and end-to-end global implementation of all programs and solutions.
  • Provide strategic direction to the Talent Development teams. Adapt strategies to changing circumstances and evolving business needs. Provide effective leadership and development support to the team and ensure resources are most effectively deployed to serve global enterprise needs.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Senior Leaders by leading the strategy and design of solutions intended to address ongoing development needs within business units across the firm and the enterprise overall. Ensure all solutions align with company objectives and priorities.
  • Lead projects as assigned, on time and within budget, including cross team/department projects as required. Lead external trends research and benchmarking and implement best-in-class practices for all core areas.
  • Oversee training administration, including vendor management and processes for class creation, logistics, facilitation, tracking, reporting, billing, measurement, and evaluation. Evolve offerings to ensure optimal user experience.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to proactively manage risk and remain in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the budget for areas of responsibility and work to identify and solve potential challenges and opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of talent development experience, including leading globally is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience/ownership of enterprise-wide leadership and talent development strategies and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience benchmarking and implementing industry-leading strategies, processes, and programs including experience in training assessment instruments and methodologies.
  • Experience overseeing and leading a team of learning and talent development professionals as well as the ability to partner with and influence Senior Leaders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience that incorporates strong performance management and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective leadership including the ability to build strong, cohesive teams as well as the ability to drive innovation and process improvement.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills; demonstrates a strong customer orientation and applies a collaborative, creative and resourceful problem solving approach.
  • Financial Service experience preferred.

The ideal candidate will lead by inspiration and will have an accomplished track record developing best in class learning and talent development strategies as well as someone who keeps abreast of industry trends to ensure solutions remain competitive. This person should understand the benefits of working within a large, global organization and servicing the internal client. This includes having the ability to influence in a matrixed environment. This role will be expected to contribute as a key member of the HR Team and bring an informed point of view to strategic discussions. The ultimate goal is to establish credibility while strategically building and positioning the organization for continued growth.
  • The preferred candidate is expected to think strategically, creatively, and drive innovation with a focus on continuous improvement. Additional leadership expectations include demonstrating accountability with a focus on client needs and creating value for the shareholder. It will be important that this individual build and develop talent and manage performance within their team. A proven track record of effective leadership of managing and leading through change. There is a strong emphasis on the ability to maximize relationships, build trust, and communicate effectively across business units, staff groups, and geographic locations.
