Sr. Software Release Engineer

Role Summary:

In this role, this Senior Software Release Engineer will work with Quality, Cyber Security, Engineering, and Project Management teams to ensure compliant, efficient execution of our release cadence for the Trip Optimizer® product portfolio. This role will be responsible for developing software release plans for both release branches and development streams, as well as their associated maintenance through final delivery. This Senior Software Release Engineer will be responsible for leading efficiency improvements and documentation updates for the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering and project management to develop software release plans
  • Facilitate quarterly defect backlog planning with lead systems engineers and project engineers
  • Work with Quality organization to ensure compliance to standards through the SDLC
  • Work with Cyber Security organization to ensure compliance to standards through the SDLC
  • Coordinate performance metric collection and analysis with software and validation engineers
  • Provide technical mentoring for more junior software engineers as needed
  • Design, implement and test software for embedded systems from requirements analysis through production and commercial deployment.
  • Develop product software in C and C++
  • Work closely with the business unit to ensure application development meets product specification requirements.
  • Participate actively in design and code reviews.
  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements.
  • Develop documentation including SW design, SW requirements, SW process and SW architectures.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in Tollgate software development.
  • Experience with x86 and/or PowerPC micro-processor in a C/C++ environment.
  • Experience using Getlabs
  • Experience with embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) including QNX Neutrino.
  • Experience with SW configuration management tools such as Perforce.
  • Experience with SW analysis tools such as Coverity, and SW unit test tools such as VectorCAST.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years developing embedded software.
  • Experience using Getlabs
  • Experience leading technical projects or project teams.
  • Strong understanding of software design, methods, and architectural approaches.
  • Knowledge of software engineering principles.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Travel 10%
