For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern
Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area
hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the
goal of improving the health of our communities. In addition to our 200+ bed hospital, the Backus Health System includes numerous off-site locations, including severalhealth centers and the Backus Outpatient Care Center, also in Norwich. We have additional facilities in Colchester,
Pawcatuck, Mystic and Waterford.
We are looking for a physical therapist (PT) leader to join our outpatient team in Norwich, CT at the Backus Outpatient Care Center (BOCC)!
In this leadership position, you will collaborate with motivated and energetic rehabilitation team including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Opportunity for continuum of care and best practice creation for different patient populations. In addition, you will have an opportunity to collaborate with the inpatient rehab and Occupational Health departments at Backus Hospital and develop relationships with colleagues in the area. Being located in the same building as many of the referring providers allows for excellent interaction regarding patient care. The caseload can consist of a wide range of orthopedic cases and specialties: neuro, vestibular, sports medicine, musculoskeletal disorders, osteoporosis, work injury rehab, pain management and more!
Position is Monday-Friday, full time, 40 hours/week, with some evenings required until 7pm. This is a treating/management position. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, position ensures that high quality, cost effective services are delivered in support of the organizations strategic plan, goals and objectives.

- Bachelor's degree in physical, occupational, or speech therapy required, Master's or DPT preferred.
- Licensed in the state of CT as a Physical Therapist (PT) required.
- Minimum three (3) years previous experience as a therapist in an outpatient setting required.
- Demonstrated progressive leadership skills required. Experience managing and developing employees highly preferred.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint as well as electronic health records and other software
