IMMEDIATE! - Structural Engineering Department Manager

They are seeking a talented Structural Engineer Department Manager for their Suffern, NY office. Candidates should have experience in small to large-sized projects such as office buildings, higher education, health care, research facility design, and tenant renovation work, preferably in a consulting engineering firm environment. The role will also involve business development and management to help grow and lead the department.

  • Help market, grow, and manage the structural department
  • Serve as a Project Manager and client interface on various types of projects
  • Assist in a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
  • Coordinate structural design details with architectural and MEP designs
  • Conduct site investigations to document existing conditions, and plan projects accordingly
  • Pursue professional activities to gain professional recognition


  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Structural Engineering; Masters is a plus
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the structural design and analysis of buildings
  • Prior professional experience in layout design of structures, including building type, framing type, and lateral resisting structural elements
  • Working knowledge of current industry software, including RAM, PCA, ENERCALC, Revit, & AutoCAD

Minimum Requirements:

  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
