Job Description

The Director of Engineering will provide direct technical leadership within the Ground Combat Systems Engineering area with direct responsibilities for the OMFV program. The position will be responsible for related capital, production and IRAD investments in order to meet customer and business objectives of being on time, on budget, meeting technical requirements. The Director will lead & implement the overall leadership structure, carry out the strategic planning and meet the goals within the assigned action plans for quality, process improvement and financial management of the program and related investment activities.

Responsibilities & Tasks
  • The OMFV Engineering Director first and foremost is responsible successful execution of the OMFV Program, ensuring robustness of Staffing, technical development, and transitional plans all while maintaining responsibility for schedule and budget. A key to achieving this will be engaging with the Program Management leadership team, Prime leadership team and Customer leadership as well as the internal Engineering Leadership.
  • The Director will have responsibility for development of products and solutions within this program and the technology area, leadership of R&D activities in these technologies, technical interaction with customers and industry partners, and close collaboration with business and program personnel to achieve business objectives.
  • The Director will have responsibility for staffing, hiring, skill development and performance management of the lethality systems engineering team, working with peers across ESA engineering to successfully execute programs.
  • The Director is responsible for execution of programs in the Ground Combat technology area. The Ground Combat team will provide technical and project leadership, including expertise in this technology area, and work with peers across engineering for additional skills and resources.
  • The Director is responsible for understanding current and future technology trends in this area and positioning the ESA team to be competitive..
  • The Director will lead engagement with technical customer organizations and work to establish working relationships and joint projects with appropriate government organizations and/or labs.
  • The Director will work with the CTO office to establish and execute R&D projects needed to advance technology and products in this area.
  • The Director will lead development of Technology and Product roadmaps and align R&D and program activities to mature products on the roadmap.
  • The Director is required to maintain robust relationships with the business unit peers and engineering functional management as well as with appropriate counter parts within Elbit affiliated companies and key subcontractors and partners.
  • The Director is required to maintain close alignment with Elbit affiliated organizations to coordinate technology roadmaps, R&D investments and program responsibilities.
  • The Director is responsible for finding opportunities to leverage investment and resources across affiliates where possible to provide competitive options for US customers.
  • Director is responsible for assessing current and upcoming program needs for lethality engineering and acting to staff programs with qualified resources, including internal or external resources as appropriate.
  • Responsible for supporting new business development by providing staff and leadership to propose innovative solutions to meet our customer and business objectives, developing proposal cost, schedule and technical baselines to support winning proposals, and positioning organization to execute successfully upon contract win.
  • The Director has responsibility for workforce development, training and management to meet program and business needs. This should include training and development of existing workforce, hiring of additional resources, working with peers across the organization to leverage other resources within ESA, and working with appropriate 3rd party organizations when necessary to augment ESA staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or relevant technical discipline required with advanced technical degree(s) preferred.
  • 20 years Relevant product development experience (Military products preferred)
  • DoD Secret Clearance preferred, ability to obtain clearance required at a minimum.
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Earned Value Management experience preferred
  • Travel expected up to 25% of the time
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or relevant technical discipline required with advanced technical degree(s) preferred.
